Observations (in the raw)
The piñon tree in front of the studio seems to have bark beetle infestation. This is a big problem in the West these days. We are losing pines at an alarming rate. The drought has weakened the tree's natural resistance to this pest. This saddens me so. There is really nothing that can be done for the tree. And by the estimate of a local landscaper, this is an old tree, possibly as old as 250 years. So sad! There have been a lot of lessons in impermanence lately. I am struggling with it.
