I read this quote and I understood exactly what she meant. Afterwards, I walked outside and I swear I felt her spirit in the morning winds. I recall when I used to see pictures of Ms. O'Keefe all dressed in black and living the artist's life in New Mexico and I just knew that's what I wanted.
Well, I am an artist in New Mexico. I do wear black occasionally. Still, all things considered, I'm not sure it's exactly the life I envisioned. There are times, though, when it's awfully close.
Pat Greenwell is an artist. A painter and sometimes poet, he has been searching the New Mexico desert for several years now, looking for lost possibilities and probable intentions.
